Jack Gilding, Executive Officer
Jack has lived in Korweinguboora since 1991. He is a member of the Leonards Hill CFA and was on the committee of the Daylesford Childcare Centre for several years.
In the late 1970s as the Alternatives Co-ordinator for Friends of the Earth Victoria he researched and organised campaigns on energy policy and renewable energy and was also a member of the state ALP Energy, Science and Technology Policy Committee.
He has been involved in many community based business enterprises, establishing Walker Press, a small community printing business in Melbourne in the 1970s and a community printing business in Vanuatu in 1980.
Before becoming Executive Officer of Hepburn Wind, Jack worked on technology strategy and the implementation of new technologies for organisations including Community Technology, Telstra, the Centre for International Research on Communication and Information Technologies, and the Victorian Office of Training and Further Education.
Tracy Anthony, Project Officer
Tracy’s background is in business process and systems implementation in large corporate businesses. Between 2000 – 2005, Tracy worked exclusively within the Electricity and Gas industries during the roll-out of retail contestability. During this time she was an industry representative as well as project manager for the various processes and systems required to enable customer transfers between retailers.
In 2005 Tracy moved to Daylesford, transferring her skills into small business and community based projects. She is the current president of the Daylesford Media Tecknologists Inc Assoc which works with Hepburn Shire and other community organisations to provide youth based events. Tracy is passionate about using virtual technology to support collaboration, cohesion and visibility. One such project is the Daylesford Hepburn Exchange Noticeboard which utilises Social networking site Ning to provide an “electronic public noticeboard”.
Taryn Lane, Community Officer
In recent years, Taryn has worked for grassroots NGO’s in international community development. Her focus has been Indigenous artisan co-operatives within East Timor and Mexico, working beside women on fair trade, well being and cultural tourism projects. For two years Taryn worked as the coordinator of an NGO based in Melbourne gaining experience in advocacy, events, communications, fundraising and volunteer management. She has also worked with Aboriginal organisations in Victoria, in event management and project officer roles.
Other positions have included research assistant and assistant teacher in various universities. Taryn has been involved in the Borderlands Co-operative for several years, gaining understanding of the role and workings of co-operatives within the community.
Taryn moved to Trentham in 2010 and has a passion for grassroots action and engaged communities. She undertook a Future Sustainability Leaders course in 2008 and is honoured to be working the Hepburn Shire community in the renewable energy sector. She is currently undertaking her masters and is on the board of the Trentham Community Garden.
Sally van Rooden, Operations Assistant
Sally originally worked as an IT Project Leader within both small and large Government organisations in Melbourne, Brisbane and London. Later on, she moved into training where she taught students in sustainability on a casual basis. More recently she worked at Central Victoria Solar City as a Home Energy Assessor which provided free advice to householders on how to reduce their energy use. Sally moved to the Daylesford area in 2005 and lives on 5 acres with her partner. She later became involved with SHARE, Words In Winter (keen fiction writer), as well the CFA. She also runs the occasional workshop on how to reduce energy in the home, which includes retrofitting as well as renewable energy options.
